Questions creators ask us
Do I need Claude or ChatGPT? Is the $20 plan enough?
Yes, you need one: Claude Code, Codex (part of ChatGPT) or Cursor. Compound runs on that plan, so you don't pay for the AI twice. The $20 plan is enough to start. Bigger models, like Claude Opus, make better edits.
What does it cost? What does the $20 pay for?
$20 a month, after a 14-day free trial. Stop anytime. The AI runs on your own plan. The $20 pays for everything around it: posting to up to 6 accounts, captions, auto DMs, 100 GB of storage and the iPhone app.
Why not just use CapCut, or Claude on its own?
In CapCut, you still do the editing. Claude on its own isn't a video editor. Compound gives your AI a real one. It watches your clips, cuts the retakes, adds captions and graphics, and posts. It also remembers your style, so each video gets better.
I don't know what to post. Can it help?
Yes. Ask it for ideas, a hook and a script. Tell it about yourself once, and it writes in your voice. It even tells you what to film for each line.
Will it look like me, or like AI?
Like you. Show it a video you like, or one of your own, and it copies that style. It keeps your words and cuts the stumbles. Every video on this page was edited with Compound.
Does it work on Windows or on my phone?
Compound runs on a Mac with an Apple chip (M1 or newer) and macOS 15 or later. There's no Windows version yet. On Pro, you also get the iPhone app: send clips from your phone, ask for changes and watch your videos. The editing happens on your Mac.
I'm not technical and I've never edited. Can I use it?
Yes. If you can send a text, you can use it. Drop in your clips and say what you want, like you would tell an editor. Want help the first time? Book a free call and we'll set it up with you.
How long does one video take?
A few minutes of your time. You drop in your clips and say what you want. Compound edits while you do something else. Then you check it.
What if I don't like the edit?
Just say what to change, like “cut right after I say peace.” Or fix it yourself on the timeline: move a cut, change a caption, swap the music.
Can it post for me?
Yes, it can post or schedule to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X and LinkedIn.
Is it safe? Why does it want my files?
Compound is signed by our team and notarized by Apple. That means Apple scanned it for anything harmful. It asks to see your files so it can open your clips.
