What Compound collects, what stays on your computer, and the choices you have.

Last updated: October 22, 2026

Overview

Compound is a desktop app, with a companion iPhone app, that helps you script, edit and post short videos with AI agents. Most of your work stays on your own computer. This policy explains what we collect when you use Compound, how we use it, and your choices. By using Compound, you agree to the practices described here.

What Stays on Your Computer

Your projects, workspace files, notes and agent chats are stored on your computer, in folders you can see and delete. The agents you connect (such as Claude Code or Codex) run on your computer under your own accounts with those providers. We do not receive your projects, and we receive your agent chats only as described below: a copy of each agent conversation, kept for a limited time so we can fix problems with it.

Information We Collect

How We Use Information

We use information to provide and secure Compound: to sign you in, transcribe and analyze media you send, relay messages between your phone and your computer, post to accounts you connect, manage your plan, answer support requests, prevent abuse, fix bugs and understand how the product is used. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your media or chats to train AI models.

AI and Third-Party Services

Compound relies on service providers to operate. They process information only on our behalf and under their own privacy terms:

AI agents you connect yourself, such as Claude Code or Codex, are governed by your agreement with their provider.

Retention

Uploads for one-off processing are deleted automatically after a short period. Files kept for a chat, such as clips sent from the iPhone app, are kept while the chat needs them. Account data is kept while your account is open. Agent chat transcripts are deleted after 90 days. When you delete your account, from the Mac app or the iPhone app, we delete your uploads, cloud projects and chats, agent chat transcripts and connected accounts and cancel any subscription, except where we must keep records for legal, tax or security reasons. Projects on your computer stay there until you delete them.

Your Choices

You can turn mobile access off at any time in Settings, disconnect social accounts, and delete your account in either app: Settings → Account → Delete account (how). You can also ask us to access, correct or delete your information by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls and signed, expiring links to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your devices and accounts protected.

Children

Compound is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the date above, and for significant changes we will let you know in the app or by email.
